Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Commemorative Coins

 Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Dham is one of the most important pilgrims to the hindus. It is in the state of Jammu and Kashmir region of the Himalayan range. To be more specific the temple is on Mount Trikut, with the base camp at Karta, a is a small town in Reasi district.

History of the temple

As per the legend this temple is a self manifested abode of the divine mother, where she offers darshan to her devotees, in the form of pind. In the main temple there are three pinds which are the manifestations of Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati & Maha Kali.



Above the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, is a small shrine of Baba Bhaironnath, as it is said that the visit the devi’s holy shrine is not complete till one does not visit the shrine of Bhaironnath

Formation of the Shrine Board

In the year 1986, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (commonly called Shrine Board) was formed. It has taken up the management of the Shrine and regulation of the Yatra. The Board has undertaken development activities aimed  to make at Yatra comfortable and hassle free experience for the Yatris. The Board has done this by reinvesting the offerings and donations received from the devotees into betterment of the facilities and lives of the people living there.

About the Coin

In December 2012, to Commemorate the completion of 25 years of the Shrine Board, Coins were approved and minted in denominations of 5 & 10.

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend " सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "`" and denominational value "5" in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol.

The face of the coin shall bear the picture of "MATA VAISHNO DEVI" in the centre, with inscription " श्री माता वैष्णो देवी श्राईन बोर्ड" in Devnagri script on the upper periphery and "SHRI MATA VAISHNO DEVI SHRINE BOARD" in English on the lower periphery. The year "2012" shall be inscribed below the picture and words "SILVER JUBILEE" below the year.
